Hey, y’all! Thanks for stopping by. My name's Davida, which is pronounced similar to some lyrics you may know. If we have the opportunity to work together, I’ll be sure to tell you what they are! As a Texas native and a Licensed Professional Counselor at Wanda Hudson Consulting, I'm part of a dedicated team that's deeply committed to enhancing your social, emotional, and mental well-being. I understand that choosing the right counselor for yourself or your child(ren) can be challenging and finding the right fit is important. To that end, I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me and for considering me as a trusted provider.
For more than 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with various specialized populations, including children, adolescents, young adults, individuals with dual diagnoses, and those with physical and psychological disabilities. My career journey has taken me through various roles in two of the largest counties in Texas. I've served as a foster and juvenile youth care worker, a child abuse investigator, a treatment and foster home monitor, a career counselor, a service coordinator, a mental health crisis assessor, a truancy officer, and a clinical counselor. Currently, I provide non-medical counseling to military service members and their children in West Texas. Each role has given me the opportunity to grow by building on my experiences and discovering new ways to support my clients.
Throughout my career, I've learned that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to counseling. I firmly believe in meeting people where they are, free from judgment, and nurturing relationships that help individuals "connect the dots" in their lives. My counseling approach is eclectic, drawing from various therapeutic methods to address trauma and promote coping and cognitive-behavioral skills. I have experience with evidence-based treatment models like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trust Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Throughout our sessions, you'll gain valuable tools from these models.
When I'm not working, I dedicate my time to volunteering to causes that align with my passions, such as my local community and church, and organizations focused on education, literacy, advocacy, human rights, veterans and their families, and animals.
My goal as your therapist isn't to "fix" you, but to support you in becoming the best version of yourself, whatever that may look like for you. If this approach resonates with you, let's get started!
